This year’s ANZAC ceremony was a time when the whole school and other members of our community came together to remember the fallen troops who served this country and fought for a better future. Once everyone was seated, Ben lowered the flag to half-mast. The principal gave a welcome to everyone followed by Gemma giving an acknowledgement to country. Mrs Burnett spoke about ANZAC day and how important it was to remember those who had fallen. Dylan then read a poem about ANZAC day and remembrance. Soon after, the student wreath bearers formed a line with their Year 6 escorts and walked forward to place their wreath and took a moment of silence. Alasdair read a passage about Captain Bryce Duffy, a well-known young officer who was killed on operations in Afghanistan on October 29th, 2011. Then names of fallen indigenous soldiers were read out and one by one a Year 6 student laid a poppy in their honour. After this the school Chaplain played the Last Post followed by the Rouse. Mrs Burnett made a final speech to conclude the parade and Benjamin raised the flag. By Alasdair
