Opened in 1904, Dunwich State School is the only school on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) and caters for students from the three major towns of Point Lookout, Amity Point and Dunwich itself.
Each town has its own sub-culture which influences the diversity of the school's culture and learning. Point Lookout is tailored to the tourism industry, Amity Point services the fishing industry and Dunwich is a hub for business and indigenous corporations.
There are three clans that comprise the Quandamooka People, who are the Traditional Owners of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), Moorgumpin (Moreton Island), and surrounding lands and seas in Moreton Bay. They are the Noonuccal and Goenpul of Minjerribah, and Ngugi of Moorgumpin.
We pay our respect to the Elders past, present and emerging, and honour the enduring cultural, spiritual and educational connections that have existed on this land for thousands of years. These connections continue to shape the identity and spirit of our school today.
