Attendance and absence

If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason, please inform the school by using the QParents app or by phoning school on 07 3409 6333.

Education Queensland requires schools to record and explain all student absences to ensure that no harm comes to our student on their journey to school. If your child is absent without explanation you will be sent a text message requesting a reason for their absence.

>> Late arrivals and early departures

Students arriving at school after 8.50am when the roll is marked must collect a late slip from the office before going to class. Students leaving before school ends must be collected by a guardian from the school office.

>> Absences of more than 10 days

If a student will be absent for more than 10 consecutive days for any reason, you will be required to complete an exemption from compulsory schooling form which will be submitted to the Principal for approval. The Principal issues a letter of approval to the parent after consideration of the circumstances.

Medication at school

If your child requires staff to administer medication at school, please contact the school office in the first instance to discuss your child’s requirements.

Please note, school staff will only administer medication that:

  • has been prescribed by a qualified health practitioner (e.g. doctor, dentist)
  • is in its original container
  • has an attached pharmacy label.
Office staff will ask you to complete a consent form. If your child requires more than one medication, you will need to complete a form for each medication.

Playgrounds and Morning Supervision

  • Students should not be playing on our playgrounds or ovals before or after school. This is a workplace health and safety requirement to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students and the care of equipment during non-supervised hours.
  • Between 8:30am - 9:00am we provide supervision in the Undercover Areas only, where students talk together, play handball or eat items from Breakfast Club.

Bikes and Scooters

  • When entering the school grounds, students are required to dismount and walk their pedal-bicycle or push-scooter to the bike racks under A Block.
  • Children who ride to school are required by law to wear a helmet for their own safety.
  • E-bikes and E-scooters are not permitted at school. In QLD, effective from 31 August 2026: riders of e-bikes, e-scooters, e-skateboards and e-unicycles must be 16 with a learners licence.

Personal Items

  • The school provides all sporting equipment, including items used at lunchtimes: handballs, basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs. Footballs and oz-tag equipment. If students bring their own sporting equipment to school, the items must stay at the Office until the end of the day.
  • Toys (eg. mini-skateboards, bey-blades), Novelty cards (eg. Pokemon cards), and Electronic games are not permitted at school. The school cannot take responsibility if these items become lost or damaged. If seen at school, these items may be held at the Office until the end of the day.
  • Students should not to bring large amounts of money to school. Parents will be contacted if a child brings more than $20 to school.

Digital Devices

  • Mobile Phones must be handed in at the Office from the time when students arrive, until they leave school.
  • Wearable devices like smartwatches can be worn, but they must have notifications switched off, so that phone calls, messages and other notifications cannot be sent or received during school hours.
  • If students need to contact their family during the school day, they should go to the Office where staff will assist them with contacting their parent / carer.
  • If a mobile phone / accessory (eg. earbuds, headphones, Bluetooth speaker), or online use of a smartwatch is seen or heard while at school, students will be required to hand the item/s in at the Office.
