Welcome to the Dunwich State School Community

Yura!

Welcome to the best school in Queensland, we are safe, calm and connected.  I say this with a deep grounded sense of pride in our wonderful and experienced staff, our diverse community of families and of course our students who are the centre of what we do.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Dunwich State School. As a school community, we place a high value on the importance of First Nations cultures and are committed to promoting awareness and understanding of Indigenous perspectives and knowledges across all learning areas. We strive to develop strong relationships with our local Indigenous communities and incorporate Indigenous perspectives into our curriculum and school activities.

We respectfully acknowledge the Noonuccal, the Goenpul and the Ngugi traditional owners, on whose land we have the privilege to work, live and play each day. We acknowledge and pay our respects to our Elders, past, present and emerging. We also acknowledge that the land, seas and rivers across this country are, and always will be, traditional Aboriginal land and Torres Strait Islander land.

We value our inclusive culture.  Inclusive education means that every day, in every classroom, every student is learning and achieving in a safe, supportive, disciplined and differentiated learning environment. It builds our community that value, celebrate and respond to diversity. It is underpinned by respectful relationships between learners and school community members. It is supported by collaborative relationships with parents and our community through communication, learning partnerships, participation and consultative decision-making.

This website provides school information documents and will answer many of the questions you have about how your child will enter into school life. It is designed to keep you up-to-date with the latest school news and events, as well as provide useful resources and information for students and families. I invite you to visit the school, to get to know the staff and other parents because it is by developing a close relationship between parents and staff that we can achieve the very best for our children.

I would be happy to provide a personal tour of our wonderful school,  so please contact the best Administration staff in any Queensland school – Kathleen and Kim (a Traditional Owner), who both have  extensive experience and knowledge of our school community and can help in any way.

I look forward to meeting with you.

Best regards

Yuwai!
