Community Member of the Year - Brian Coghill
Community Education Counsellor Award - Canay Brown-Coghill
Congratulations to all the recipients.
Our school was selected from 171 schools in the region to receive the award for Building Cultural Capabilities. We are very proud to receive such a prestigious award and thank everyone who contributed to the win.
In presenting the Community Education Counsellor of South East Queensland award, Dr Dee Basaraba (Principal Project Officer, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Services) mentioned the wonderful job Canay does to maintain the hub, keep the students culturally safe, sits at the yarning circle to share knowledge, shares contact with family and drives development. Canay also has a strong understanding of every student which assisted in lifting their outcomes and understands their needs as well as facilitates change and doesn't force it. We are very grateful for the fantastic job Canay does for our school and congratulate her for receiving the award.
